The Wilshire Grand in Downtown’s financial district, which was previously scheduled to be completed this month, is still very much under construction, as shown in new photos taken over the last month inside the 73-story tower.
A rep for the Wilshire Grand tells Curbed that the tower is now expected to be completed sometime later this year, though no date’s been set.
Whenever it’s complete, the Wilshire Grand will include a 900-room hotel named the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown, as well as classy restaurants and more than 350,000 square feet of office space.
It is technically the tallest tower west of the Mississippi River (counting its spire).
The project recently received $61 million in tax breaks from the city, which might seem like a lot but isn’t when compared to tax breaks given to other high-profile Downtown hotel projects, such as the drawn-out Frank Gehry-designed Grand Avenue Project, which received almost $200 million in tax breaks just last year.
